A reunion in Alsace of a North American Wehrell during the summer of 1938.
A reunion in Alsace of a North American Wehrell with some of his cousins in Alsace during the summer of 1938. One of grandpa’s uncles, Joseph Wehrell, is the short man without a hat on in the photo. He followed grandpa’s family to Paterson, NJ. in 1889 and began his own family there. 49 years later he decided to pay a visit to his cousins in Alsace. He returned to Paterson from his visit in the autumn of 1938 and died there the following year. In 2010, before our son’s wedding in Barcelona, Sue, Lynnette, Nils, and I paid a visit to Madame Mercadiel, then named “Margueritte Carion” , the young lady kneeling in the middle of the 3 young ladies in the front row. She would be one of our third cousins.”
